Kayaking to watch the Weed Harvester at work Mar4th2013

From the East side of Skaha Lake paddled to the West side where the Weed Harvester was hard at work. Passed through a thin layer of ice while the outside temp was +7.5c and even warmer in the sunshine. Managed to get some good clips of the harvester as I passed by both ways.

Youknowyouare_a_kayaker4

This will make for some cleaner waters for paddling this season.

First February Kayaking - Skaha Lake Feb1st2012

Snapshots of the paddle

Well here are, the first of February 2013. Not much for snow and not much in the way of ice on Skaha Lake. Winter is almost over and we didn't get the deep freeze like we did last year. Starting February off with sunshine was awesome!

Paddling today with one of my old time paddle buddy's, Robin Dunham. We enjoyed a paddle in the sunshine along the East shoreline of Skaha Lake.

North End Skaha Lake - Kayaking LOG: January 11th 2013

Skaha Lake today was mostly calm. With a temp of about 0c. After a week of snow and overcast skies it was nice to see. I paddled solo on the North end of the lake today. The sky as you can see was awesome, the blue sky was too inviting to pass up.

"Kayaking Winter Winds" - SNOW DAY Skaha Lake Log:Jan6th2013

With a 35kmh headwind from the South with gusts at least 40kmh. I attempted to paddle along the East shoreline towards Okanagan Falls (South from my area) but couldn't get past the point (approx 1.5km away), after numerous attempts I finally packed it in for the day and managed to at least get some paddle video and photos and a heck of a workout. The Tsunami glided well, the rudder made a huge difference while heading into the windy waves.

Hope you like the video, please subscribe if you enjoy. Paddle with you soon!

"Robin's Poggies & Spray Skirt" Skaha Lake Kayaking Dec31st2012

Today the temp was -3c with a 10 kmh Head Wind from the South while paddling on the lake with Robin Dunham. We paddled into the wind to the Dog Beach, about one hour from our put-in spot. The wind felt quite brisk against the face but we dressed accordingly for the cold weather paddling.

As we passed by the reeds in the water, there was Ice forming at the lake edge of the reeds that looked like little Christmas ornament bulbs.

Robin purchased a Spray Shirt  for his kayak yesterday and Pogies for his paddle to keep himself warm. Robin says it made a huge difference he also said I looked like a kayak robber today, but.. you got to do what you got to do to stay warm.

The old Dog Beach was our "Turn-around point", about one hour South of our Put-In spot.

With the overcast sky and the wind it  felt  that  much colder paddling today. In one of the shots may be hard for you to see but there are about 4 swans ahead of us, they were keeping an eye on us as we passed by. Back at our Put-In spot where the reeds are, managed to snap a few pics to show you.

Lake water temp is still about +5c this morning air temp was +2c on the lake with a light wind from the South.

Robin and I moved his seat back a bit to accommodate his tall frame in his "Tsunami 145" a couple days ago, much improvement. Took it for a test paddle this morning. I am paddling Kathy's "Tomahawk" kayak.
