Good morning Skaha Lake Penticton!
Beautiful morning here in Penticton. Always enjoy summer mornings at the lake. Quite calm this morning, temp at the lake is 18c with a few clouds. Lake water temp is still about 20c. in the water at the end of the dock.

Weather at Skaha Lake Penticton
Current weather here at Skaha Lake
Sunshine breaking through the clouds. Lake is fairly calm, Air Temp: +14c and rising this morning. Lake water Temp is +12c at Log: 11/5/2012 10:25:44 AM
Nights are getting a little cooler so we picked up a used backup heater for the cool evenings after we return from kayaking along with the firepit I think we will do ok. ;-)

Kayaking: Skaha Lake InBetweenTheRains
Penticton in the South Okanagan Valley is a tough place to forecast weather at least from what I have seen thru about 45years of living here. The Lake Okanagan and Skaha must effect the weather quite a bit and also the mountains around the Okanagan Valley. The forecast will say "North wind all day today" and the wind will be from the South when it gets here or vice versa. From my time here I have noticed, 90% of the time we have a North wind in the morning till somewhere between 11:00am and 2:00pm then it stops and switches to a South wind for the afternoon. If the forcast says "Rain all day" we will usually get 5 to 15 minutes of rain here and not on the other end of town etc.. So here we are today with a forecast of Rain all day and thundershowers for the afternoon. As you can see from my photos from today we went for a paddle today dry and in the sunshine. This morning we had gray/black skies and rain and at about 9am it cleared up and the sun came out for a while so we went out on the lake for a paddle after I finished work for the day then we were treated to yet another sunset.

A change from bitterly cold to a milder but very moist pattern will bring significant snow and a risk of freezing rain for Friday and into Saturday. This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
A change from bitterly cold to a milder but very moist pattern will bring significant snow and a risk of freezing rain for Friday and into Saturday. Details
A slow transition from a cold Arctic airmass to a milder but moist Pacific airmass will take place over the BC interior on Friday and into Saturday as a major Pacific storm approaches the BC coast and slowly shifts inland. An initial impulse of moisture will move across the southern areas early Friday resulting in a band of snow producing up to 5 cm with locally higher amounts in the mountain passes. The main portion of the storm will arrive in the southwest interior Friday afternoon and spread north and eastwards into the central interior and southeastern BC Friday evening and into Saturday. This may produce areas of heavy snow with 20 to 30 cm for the southeastern areas and 10 to 15 cm for the southwestern regions. Mountain passes could see even more significant amounts. There is also the potential for pockets of freezing rain where the colder area remains trapped in some valley areas on Saturday. The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warni ngs may be required or extended. The public should be prepared to alter plans or in some cases avoid travel according to weather and road conditions. The forecasts may change slightly as the storm develops and moves inland. From 60hmh winds to fog & rain Skaha Lk Penticton
Nice temperature out (+13c) but this morning and overnight we had 50 - 60kmh winds all night. This afternoon we were treated to fog and rain. Here are a couple shots from this afternoon.
Hopefully the weather will clear up soon so I can squeeze more kayaking photos in.
