Ice Damage Around Skaha Lake - Log:03182014 UPDATED 3/27/2014

UPDATE: 3/27/2014 Lumber remains along the shoreline

Lumber scattered along the shoreline of Skaha Lake. In February 2014 Skaha Lake froze over and many docks were destroyed. The lumber is floating around on the lake waiting for a powerboat to collide with them, some of the lumber has made its way to the shore. Homeowners of the damaged docks have not taken the initiative to clean up their lumber as of yet. Most all the lumber is pressure treated and will not rot. Here are some photos of what has washed up on the rocky shores of the South East side of the lake.

"Ice Passage" Skaha Lake KayakLog:02 20 2014

Portions of Skaha Lake are clear enough for kayaking today. Some portions of the lake have thin sheets and some of ice from 2 to 3 inches thick.

There are little passage ways through the large sheets of ice, some large enough to paddle through.

Beautiful afternoon for a paddle after about 2 and a half weeks of a frozen over lake.

 nICE Kayaking Day

Layer of Ice on Skaha Lake and a beautiful blue sky made for some awesome lighting for photos and video today.

Wind In My Webbs Roll With The Weather KayakLog:Nov13-2013

 Windy day out paddling today. Lots of waves but the sun was shining which makes all the difference.

This morning went for a paddle on Skaha Lake.

Quiet relaxation on the other-side KAYAKING LOG: 8/21/2013

 Short paddle to seclusion on the other-side of Skaha Lake today after work. Even the hornets didn't bother me. It still amazes me how a tree (or plant) can grow on a rock.

Nice to have a big back yard to play in!

Hope you are getting out on the lake and enjoying the last days of summer, we sure are in the South Okanagan Valley.

"Salvage Of The Raft" KayakLog:July3rd2013

For months I have paddled by this lonely, abandoned, washed up raft with no home. I decided it was time to salvage it and take it home where it can be put to use. After I hauled the raft more than half way back I decided to get some recruits to help me from that point. Karen, Jim, Kathy McA and I began a voyage to salvage the raft on a warm summer evening in July. Here is our story.

"Sunset Evening Paddle" June 5th 2013 Kayaking Skaha Lake

Warm day the the South Okanagan Valley today, bit muggy though.

The sun started to shine through the clouds more towards the evening giving us a great sunset to enjoy.

Had to test out our new decals in the water and all is well! Decals held on very well.

Beautiful day for kayaking on Skaha Lake in the South Okanagan Valley

If you come across this kayak on your paddles or travels or on the web posted for sale, please contact me or the RCMP in Penticton, BC, Canada. RCMP file number 2013-4460. I have had this kayak since 2007 and it has quite a lot of sentimental value. This kayak was taken from our beach recently.

This Oldtown Dimension VieII has a Solar Deck Light on the Bow.

also has extra bungie cords on the Stern, a 1/2" gray PVC pipe under the front and back seats to help support the bottom. On the PVC pipe it has a cup holder. On the back of the seat in the front there are 2 broomstick holders that acted as a mount for my monopod for my camera. in the bottom is a piece of blue closed-cell camping foam.
