"UpThaRiver" - Kayaking Okanagan River Channel Aug13th2013

Many people tubing/floating down the river channel today.

As I paddled halfway up and back down I had many commenting about my paddle. Told many you can get your own at www.WebbedPaddles.com

I told one "you should have seen the size of the duck I took them off" LOL

Kayaking to watch the Weed Harvester at work Mar4th2013

From the East side of Skaha Lake paddled to the West side where the Weed Harvester was hard at work. Passed through a thin layer of ice while the outside temp was +7.5c and even warmer in the sunshine. Managed to get some good clips of the harvester as I passed by both ways.

This will make for some cleaner waters for paddling this season.

Kayaking Skaha Lake & Okanagan River Channel August18th 2012

Kayaking on Skaha Lake and the Okanagan River Channel. The river was fairly busy today but not as busy as it has been this year. The air temps have been in the high 30's and sunshine for about 3 weeks, with a forecast for much the same for another 2 weeks.

The paddle up the channel was a great work out, dodging floaters coming down. If you were floating down the channel on Aug18th you just may be in the video.

SUP (Stand-Up-Paddle) is getting quite popular on Skaha Lake, will have to give it a try sometime. =)

InSearchOf: Alleged drowning of a girl on Skaha Lake July30th2012

It has been a sad couple days.

Yesterday 12 year old girl from Kamloops on vacation with her family lost her footing on Skaha Lake while standing on a sandbar and is believed to have drowned. Today I went out on my own to help with the search. Later Kathy McA joined me. RCMP and Search & Rescue were already out and had divers in the water looking. So far as of 11pm this evening nothing. While the temperature was 31c and a water temp of 26c vacationers continued as usual, beaches were packed with people probably unaware of what has happened. Boaters with water skiers going by enjoying the water.

We were later met with a freak rainstorm that came from the West and halfway across the lake then headed North through town. This slowed the search as well as all the boaters causing extra waves in the lake near the Okanagan River Channel.

If you are in the area tomorrow with your kayak please help with the search. The girl is 12 years old with a pink 2 piece bathing suit. My heart goes out to the family.

"Into the sunset" KAYAKING Skaha July8th2012

Paddle across the lake then sailed to BanburryGreen then a paddle across the lake and back home plus the evening paddle into the sunset. The air temp was 35c and the water temp was 22c on Skaha Lake today. Nice to see water temp coming up as we finally begin to have summer.
