Boaters urged to slow down near the shore

Okanagan Lake is still higher than normal so emergency officials are issuing a special request for those on the water this holiday weekend.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre wants all boaters to slow down and keep their wakes down as they approach the shoreline.

This will help reduce any erosion caused by wave action.

Those living beside the water are also being asked to leave any wood debris along the waterfront areas to reduce additional beach erosion.
